Through becoming more self-aware and focusing on total wellness I have personally overcome being entangled in an unhealthy lifestyle. Drawing from my own experience, and education I will help you achieve what you set out to do. Being healthy has made an incredible difference in my life -- an experience that I want others to share.
It is my mission to help my clients in achieving a healthy lifestyle by providing support, guidance and motivation. I will help you to take small steps that lead to big changes by dealing with the thoughts, language, and actions that impact your health. I have a Masters degree in Health Promotion Management (American University, Washington, DC), and hold certificates in Personal Fitness Training (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America [AFAA]); Coaching (Coach Training Alliance); and Health Education (National Commission for Health Education Credentialing [NCHEC]). Following grad school, I worked for five years as a policy analyst for Partnership for Prevention, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health. My projects focused on worksite health promotion related initiatives. I have been an author on articles published in the American Journal of Public Health, the North Carolina Medical Journal, and the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) Absolute Advantage. I have taught as an Adjunct Professor in the department of health and physical education at Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. Courses included, Lifetime Health & Fitness, Skills Conditioning/Strength Training, Wellness/Physical Fitness Assessment, Principles & Foundations of Health Promotion and Health Promotion Program Planning and Evaluation. I am currently the President for the West Des Moines Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). In addition to my training and coaching practice, I also serve as an Independent Consultant to the Alliance to Make US Healthiest, where I am involved in developing worksite health related initiatives.
